Newport Beach, California — Historic Dory Fleet Fish Market — Since 1891

Q: Where is the Dory Fleet market located?
A: The market is located just north of the Newport Pier on the beach. From Coast Hwy. follow Balboa Blvd. south look for and follow signs to the Pier. To see a map click here.
Q: When is the market open?
A: The market is open Friday-Sunday. (Weather permitting). Check the home page, or better yet follow the Dory Fleet on Twitter to receive news and updates delivered directly to your email. Customers will line up at the boats to purchase seafood. That is when the activity begins.
Q: What time do the fishermen go out?
A: The Fishermen go out in their dory boats at various times, depending on the type of catch they are after. Normally they head out through the beach surf between midnight and 2am. Usually they return before 7am. Come out, bring your family and watch the Dory Fleet return through the surf, it's a great way to start your day.
Q: Will you store my fish for me while I visit the area?
A: We can certainly hold your purchase for the time the market is open, but we're not open all day and hours may vary depending on whether we sell out. Talk with the fishermen regarding your needs and more than likely a workable solution is available.
Q: What will you have available at the market — and can I find out in advance?
A: The seafood we have is dependent upon the season. For instance, lobster season runs from early October thru mid-March. We can guarantee the market will be full of a variety of seafood, maybe a few that you haven't tried — ask the fishermen for a good recipe and tips on preparation. To find out the catch in advance you would need to visit our fishermen page and view the individual contact method posted. Some will accept calls, but remember we're out on the ocean very early and don't know the day's catch until it's been caught. You can follow 'Crabby' Steve's Dory Fleet on Twitter and receive Twitter posts and email notifications live from the boat before he heads to shore. — you can't find a fresher method of getting the 'fishwrap' or the fish!
